the race against waste Example of a success story: In March 2002 the Irish government introduced a tax of 15 cent per bag on most of the estimated one billion plastic bags handed out in Ireland each year - three a day for every woman, man and child in the country. Most of these bags were used once only before being discarded. The tax had the effect of reducing dramatically the number of plastic bags used in shopping. It shows what can be done with a little planning and a little effort. environmental links (alphabetical order) Combat Climate Change Ireland - understand climate change and how you can take action to combat it.
